RAMADHAN MESSAGES- WEEK 2- Brotherhood

RAMADHAN MESSAGES- WEEK 2- Brotherhood

The messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “A Muslim is the brother of his fellow Muslim. He will not oppress him, abandon him in difficulties, forsake him, or insult him”In the month of Ramadan, Muslims will sit and eat together offering food, good advice and many prayers for their brothers and sisters in Islam. The concept of brotherhood means that we must never forget the suffering of our brothers and sisters around the world, whether they be in Iraq, Afghanistan or Africa.

Ramadan is the time to remember the brotherhood of the Muslims in our duas and in our discussions with others. It is of vital importance to understand the reasons behind the oppression of the Muslims the world over; the corruption and tyranny of the Muslims rulers.

ROCHDALE EVENT- Ramadhan Unity and the need for Khilafah

Over the month of Ramadhan, Hizb ut-Tahrir will be running a series of public talks and iftar across the UK for the Muslim community. The series, titled “Ramadhan, Unity and the need for Khilafah”, will celebrate the unity of the Ummah that is unified in its worship of Allah Ta’ala all over the world during this blessed month.

We will warn against the repeated attempts to divide our Ummah across the world on lines of Shia and Sunni, moderate and extremist, and nation states. We will address how our Ummah lacks political unity due to the absence of the Khilafah, unity that all the Ummah craves, and unity that would bring strength to the Ummah in obedience to Allah.

Donate towards Golden Masjid

Golden Masjid is often referred to as Umm-ul-Masajid (Mother of Masjids), this is because it was the first Masjid in Rochdale, established in mid 1960’s. The capacity of the Masjid is 500 people. The Masjid is currently being extended and is in need of money to make sure the momentum of the work resumes swiftfully.

The committee has asked for help from the Rochdale Community to donate generously in this blessed month- a month in which all of us are trying to bank on our rewards for the next life with the promise of Allah (swt) that he will multiply the reward of an action by 70 to 700 times.

Ramadhan Messages- Week 1

RAMADHAN MESSAGES for Rochdale- Week One- UNITY

The Messenger of Allah (saw) Said: “The believers, in their mutual love, compassion and mercy, are like one body; if one part of it is suffering, the rest of the parts of the body join it in its fever and sleeplessness”The month of Ramadan is one of unity amongst the 1.5 Billion Muslims around the world. A month where differences and disputes are put aside for a collective display of Taqwah and Iman. From Dawn until Dusk hundreds of Millions of Muslims from Pakistan to Egypt, from Uzbekistan to Indonesia and beyond will fast for no other reason but to worship Allah (swt).

This is the true essence of Islam, the unity of the Muslim Ummah as one. This Unity must not end on the day of Eid but be implemented in reality in the world, though the implementation of Islam in the Muslim world. True unity can only be achieved with the re-establishment of the Islamic Khilafah.

John Pilger Documentary on IRAQ

Its Ramadhan again. There is joy and happiness, feasts at Iftaar, visits to relations, attendance at Masjids, meeting friends and colleagues and celebrating the month of Taqwa. In a land not so far away, in this very month, people are living in a state of fear, with little food, families murdered and bombed, honour taken away, lands occupied, unity severed, nations languishing in jails, tortured and brutalized, no response to their cries for help and seemingly no hope for the future.

[googlevideo=http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-210088912352527308]

Yes, these are the Muslims of Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan and the many other regions where suffering is taking place this Ramadhan. In this month, we must not forget them, their pains, their history and what the future holds for them.
DONT FORGET THEM this month !

Yes, these are the Muslims of Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan and the many other regions where suffering is taking place this Ramadhan. In this month, we must not forget them, their pains, their history and what the future holds for them.

Abu Musa (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "The relationship of the believer with another believer is like (the bricks of) a building, each strengthens the other.'' He (PBUH) illustrated this by interlacing the fingers of both his hands. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

This month is not just only to make dua for them, but to involve yourselves in becoming the voices of the voiceless, the legs that move for them, the hands that change their destiny and the tongue that stands for the Haq.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Do not envy one another; do not inflate prices by overbidding against one another; do not hate one another; do not harbour malice against one another; and do not enter into commercial transaction when others have entered into that (transaction); but be you, O slaves of Allah, as brothers. A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim; he neither oppresses him nor does he look down upon him, nor does he humiliate him. Piety is here, (and he pointed to his chest three times). It is enough evil for a Muslim to hold his brother Muslim in contempt. All things of a Muslim are inviolable for his brother-in-faith: his blood, his property and his honour".[Muslim].

RAMADHAN- "Realising" our Potential

RAMADHAN- "Realising" our Potential- By Majed Iqbal

Once again we are witnessing the blessed Month of Ramadhan arriving in our lives, in our homes, in our communities and in our Ummah. Once again this month is offering us time for reflection and contemplation- time for assessing our lives, time for challenging our direction in life and time to look deeply at our actions conducted over the last year.Allah (swt), the Almighty, says in the Qur’an "In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, there are signs for people of intelligence: those who remember Allah, standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: 'Our Lord, You have not created this for nothing. Glory to You!" (3:190-191)

Hence we must embrace this opportunity whole-heartedly and take advantage of this guest who is here for a short while with us, whose presence illuminates all and brings a happiness with it that no Pound or Dollar can buy or substitute.

Let this month not be one of becoming a monk, hiding in a corner, with worn out clothes, eating simple food and distancing oneself from the world. This is the month of opening our homes for dawah, strengthening our family ties, accounting the corrupt regimes in the Muslim world, Spending in the way of Allah on masjids and charity, inviting neighbors for Iftaar, becoming the voice for victims of illegal occupation all around the world, Discussing Islam at School, college, university and work, Prolonging our sajdahs, enjoining the good and forbidding the evil, Feeding the poor and orphans and working tirelessly for re-establishing the Shariah rules completely through the authority of the Khilafah state.

Allah (swt) says in the Qur’an "O you who believe, enter into the fold of Islam completely" [Al-Baqarah:208]

May Allah (swt) help us in this month to meet the standards which he (swt) set for us and build within us a spirit of passion for his deen, love for his habib (saw), become guardians of his shariah and aid us in the work to re-establish Khilafah rashidah. Ameen

Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated in his Musnad that the prophet (pbuh) said: "The Prophethood will remain among you for as long as Allah wills, then Allah will lift it when He wishes to, then it will be a Khilafah Rashidah (Rightly Guided) on the method of the Prophethood, it will remain for as long as Allah wills, then Allah will lift it if He wishes, then it will be a hereditary leadership which will remain for as long as Allah wills, then He will lift it if he wishes, then it will be a tyrannical rule, and it will remain so for as long as Allah wills, then He will lift it if He wishes, then it will be a Khilafah on the method of the Prophethood, then he kept silent."

"KARACHI EXPOSED"- BBC DOCUMENTARY

"KARACHI EXPOSED"- BBC DOCUMENTARY

Scottish Actor Atta Yaqub, star of Ken Loach’s controversial film A Fond Kiss, goes on a journey to discover the cosmopolitan city of Karachi in Pakistan. Immersing himself in the glamorous world of super models and slick TV shows, he finds his misconceptions about the country his parents came from challenged.
Atta questions himself on who is ahead of time; Pakistan or Britain. His questions and astonishment within the documentary are understandable as what he sees is only a mirror of President Musharraf's philosophy of "Enlightened Moderation" and of his understanding of a progressive Islamic identity which is suitable to operate within the international norms and customs which the rest of the world is treading on.

But do these views shown in the documentary that only permeate in the marginal elite of Pakistan resonate, in any way, with the rest of the 160 million population of the country ? Do such ideals displayed in the programme reflect the cultural backdrop and rich and deep History of the region? Is only the Western model of life worthy of emulation despite its social, Political and economic ills witnessed on the streets of Capitals of Western Nations?Click on the links to watch Part 2 and Part 3 of the documentary.

THE RAMADHAN CONNUNDRUM!- All eyes on the decision makers-

THE RAMADHAN CONNUNDRUM!- All eyes on the decision makers- By Majed Iqbal

Its that time of the year again coming soon next week. Yes, you got it...............its Ramadhan around the corner!! All of us now will be preparing ourselves mentally and physically for the month ahead; a month full of blessings, rewards and forgiveness. Each of us will be looking ahead at this month to better our selves as Muslims, re-inject the purpose of life within us, contemplate on our existence, and do much more in actions to gain closeness to Allah (swt).

However, once again,we will be facing the years old problem of moon sighting; the one issue which affects us all as individuals, families, commuinities and as an ummah year in year out. Why such a mess? "Blame it on the maulvis (clergy)" is the classic answer!!! "they'r the ones who spoil it every year because they belong to different groups and dont want to unite and give into each other" is the other answer you will find in the muslim Street, especially in the U.K. aswell as in Rochdale.

Is it that complicated? Do we have more than one moon to sight? Are there so many divisions amongst Muslims?

It is interesting that the founding and well known scholars of the Deobandi and Barelvi movements who have influence in the Indian Subcontinent and in the UK, including Rochdale have always had simple answers in the past when it came to the issue of moonsighting.

There was no Saudi or Moroccon allegience; there was no "we belong to this part of the world" or "were part of this group" mentality. Rather they followed the Shariah Rules which guide us in this matter and not the situations around us used to dictate what we do and do not do.

It is unfortunate today that many who claim to follow the scholars of the Barelvi and Deobandi groupings actually ignore what their respected elders and Ulemas stood firm to when following the Shariah rules on moon sighting.

The co-founder of Dar al-Uloom Deoband, Maulana Rasheed Ahmad Gangohi said: “If the people of Calcutta sighted the moon in Friday, whereas it was sighted in Makkah on Thursday itself, but the people of Calcutta did not know of it (the sighting on Thursday); then whenever they come to know of this, it will be obligatory for them to celebrate eid with the people of Makkah and make up (Qada’) for the first fasting.” [Maulana Rasheed Ahmad Gangohi, Sharh Tirmizi (Explanation of Tirmizi), Kaukab un Durri, pg 336, Urdu edition]

“Wherever the sighting is confirmed, however far off it may be, even if it were to be thousands of miles; the people of this place will have to abide by that.” [Fatawa Dar ul Uloom Deoband, Vol. 6 page 380, Urdu edition]“

Question: There has been some dispute in Amritsar etc. regarding sighting of moon for Ramdhan and Eid ul fitr. So should we the residents of Mandla (CP), which is located very far off, follow that sighting or not?

Answer: In the maslak of Hanafiyyah, there is no consideration of Ikhtilaf al Matale’ (difference in sighting); the sighting of the people of east is binding upon the people of the west and vice versa. This is also demanded by the hadith (soomoo li ru iyatihi we aftaroo li ru iyatihi) “Fast when it is sighted and stop fasting when it is sighted”, because the address ‘soomoo’ and ‘aftaroo’ is ‘aam (general) and for everyone. In conclusion, when sighting is confirmed in whichever place, everyone is supposed to start his fast and break it in accordance with it, i.e when the sighting is confirmed.” [Fatawa Dar ul Uloom Deoband, Vol 6 page 385 & 386, Urdu edition]

“Irrespective of how far the news of sighting came from, it is to be relied upon. For instance if the people of Burma did not sight the moon, and a person from Bombay testifies to them of having sighted the moon; it will be incumbent upon the people of Burma to make up for the (first) fasting i.e. Qada’.” [Mufti Kifayatullah, Ta’leem ul Islam, vol. 4, section sighting of moon: Urdu edition] “When the moon is sighted in one place it is not just for that region but for the entire world.” [Maulana Amjad Ali, Bahar e Sharee’at, Vol 2 page 108, Urdu edition].

The founder of the Barlevi's said: “In the correct and authentic mazhab of our Imams, with regard to the sighting of moon for Ramdhan and eid, distance of the place of sighting is of no consideration. The sighting of the east is binding upon west and vice versa i.e. the sighting of west is similarly binding on east.” [Maulana Ahmad Raza Khan, Fatawa Rizwi; Vol 4 page 568, Urdu edition]

So in Rochdale, how can we carry the concept that we just limit the Unity of Muslims in Ramadhan to the boundries of this town. Surely, the decision makers from the Reut-e-hilal (moon sighting) committe, who are from both the Deobandi and Barelvi persuasions, should take inspiration from what their founding fathers iterated on the fiqh of moon sighting and make a case for international Muslim unity!

NAWAZ SHARIF INTERVIEW on Al-Jazeera

Nawaz Sharif discusses with Al -Jazeera News his grieviences with the current Political climate in Pakistan. He argues that we no longer need "uniform democracy"; a far cry from his own "sham" democracy of the 1990's. Nawaz says he doesn't believe in an outside force telling the nation what to do and what not to do. But as far as my memory recalls it was on the instructions of Bill Clinton in 1999, the then American president on whose orders Nawaz Sharif withdrew the Paksitani forces from Kargil who had re-gained territory in Kashmir but were humilated later with a withdrawal from their then Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif.

Such politicians believe that the nations they aspire to serve have short memories and will forget past issues in order to work together for the future. Then i must say, Politicians like Nawaz Sharif And Benazir are dis-illusioned from the thoughts circulating in their own country about them. How then can these aristocrats be taken seriously to govern the masses in that region?

NAWAZ SHARIF'S return to Pakistan

NAWAZ SHARIF'S return to Pakistan- Bites with no Teeth!

By Majed Iqbal

"This man Musharraf is on his way out. No one should try to rescue him. If a deal is struck between Benazir Bhutto and Mr Musharraf, it will not serve the cause of restoring democracy to Pakistan. We will be launching a movement against Mr Musharraf and his government. We will fight a battle on the streets, in court and everywhere. This will be a defining moment in Pakistan's history."

These were the words echoed by Nawaz Sharif yesterday speaking in London, condemning the President, who ousted him as prime minister in 1999 and then sent him into exile in Saudi Arabia.
Its not only Sharif who seems to be jumping on the bandwagon of utilising the changing dynamics in Pakistan to suit his meager political interests. Just like Sharif, Benazir has also banked and took advantage of the anti-Musharraf climate fostered by the lawyers’ movement which erupted in March and a Supreme Court which after immense soul searching has found its bite; all of which has caused nightmares to Musharraf and his coterie. Both ousted ex-Prime Ministers Parties’ have contributed little to the change in the recent Political dynamics but yet seem to be championing to be the voices of Pakistan- the true liberators from a tyrannical regime that stands contrary to the principles of a free, democratic and anti-corruption state. Easier said than done; especially after looking back at both candidates tenure over the1990’s decade which was plagued with corruption, meddling of finances and no real progress for the country.

Both political parties have aimed to maximize a political profit from this situation feeding on the carcass brought down by the lawyers and the judiciary; in this respect emulating the conduct of the jackal who feeds on prey hunted by others. This only clearly highlights such peoples abdication from their own political responsibilities in a country which requires serious focus and direction.

On the other side, those advocating today that it is only the Judiciary protecting the rule of law and the spirit of democracy in Pakistan today must be questioned; where was the Supreme Court when the President violated “national” interests by allowing America to use its entire country as a launch pad for fighting the “War on terror” through the use of air bases, logistical support, and military camps and exposing the population to American intelligence agencies?

How has the judiciary been protecting the rule of law when the President was violating basic rights by locking up Political opponents, silencing Media and kidnapping journalists?

Where has the Supreme Court been in the last 10 years, where the constitution has been scrapped, trampled over and the rule of law seen to be virtually non-existent?

Any sincere observer of events in Pakistan would conclude that no politician in Pakistan has ever championed a vision to put the country on the right track- with the people’s interest first- with solving the eating dilemmas of roti, kapra and makaan (food, shelter, clothing).

When approached on Benazir’s return to Pakistan, Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad said: “This is going to be good for everyone and now Ms Bhutto will fight against terrorism and extremism alongside Gen Musharraf.”

Unfortunately, politics in Pakistan is little to do with looking after the interest of the country and more to appeasing the masses with a puppet road show to quench the Political grievances of 160 million people with Musharraf and America’s interference in the region.

Nawaz Sharifs lyrics on this being “a defining moment in Pakistan's history", has some substance, but not as seen through his spectacles. The Pakistani people have opened up to the idea that the system itself is rife with fractures, patch solutions, loopholes and open for abuse and exploitation.
