NEW CAMPAIGN in Rochdale- "Stand for Islam" launched

By Majed Iqbal- A new campaign has been launched in Rochdale which plans to open up discussion and debate over the increasing levels of intolerance currently witnessed throughout Europe against Muslims and their way of life, Islam.

Many views have been expressed openly about the Muslim community in Britain

Hizb ut-Tahrir has launched this campaign, titled ‘Stand for Islam' in Rochdale to tackle the various challenges dawning over the Muslim Community. Majeds Blog will be providing exclusive coverage of the whole campaign and the messages being relayed to the Rochdale Muslim Community.

In recent years, especially the last few, have seen many attempts which have mocked Shariah law, equated the Niqab to segregation of British Society, a ban on the Hijab in France, Mosque applications denied in Italy, caricatures of the Prophet of Islam arrogantly published by Danish Media, the British Government trying to threaten islamic grous with bans after being heavily challenged on Foreign Policy in the Muslim World, Dutch MP Geert Wilders calling for the ban of the Quran, and the viable alternative of governance in the Muslim world, the Caliphate (khilafah) heavily attacked as being outdated, irrelevant and a system which demonises minorities, denies womens rights and equated to a dictatorship.

Taji Mustafa, UK media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir said at the launch of the campaign "Our campaign will show the sublime values of Islam and the ability of the Islamic system to solve modern problems. The Muslim world is crying out for Islam, and Hizb ut-Tahrir works globally for the restoration of the Khilafah in the Muslim world. People need to know the real nature of Islam, not the lies pedalled by western politicians and media."

"It is also time to question the capitalist system and the liberal values they want to impose across the world. Those who attack Islam need to do some honest soul searching. When they next attack the hudood punishments they must ask why crime is so rampant in the west. Why do they hypocritically claim free speech as an excuse to abuse Allah's Prophets yet call for the Qur'an to be banned? When they next attack the modesty of Muslim women they must answer why women in the west are forced to fulfil the demands of men's appetites in lad's magazines which dishonour them. They must answer questions about the global financial crisis, family breakdown and the widening poverty gap."

Rochdale has seen the first part of the campaign launch with a flyer distributed at mosques and Stalls in Rochdale with a Seminar lined up in the next few weeks to open discourse amongst the public on the issues addressed in the campaign.

Taji Mustafa explained clearly that this is the road to intellectual discourse and not emotional discharge. Whilst Politicians hide behind cameras and buildings to air abuse and ridicule and use Islam and Muslim for Political advantage, the campaign aims to not fall foul of similar low standards, but instead open the doors for "Real Debate".

Taji Mustafa said "In this hostile climate, it is important that the Muslim Community remain united and respond to these attacks emulating the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (saw). Amongst other things, this campaign will address: how Muslims should respond to such attacks, the intellectual challenge of the Qur'an, how Islam liberates people from the injustices of secularism and colonialism, why the West fears the re-establishment of the Khilafah and how we can best convey the Message of Islam".

Majed' Blog will keep its readers updated with reports about the progress of the campaign providing an insight into the feelings and sentimentsof the Muslim community in Rochdale.
